Regional Steering Committee of Projects and Programmes (RSC)

Benin is hosting the 2019 session of the Regional Steering Committee of Projects and Programmes (RSC) of the Niger Basin Authority (NBA)
The Executive Secretariat of the Niger Basin Authority, in collaboration with the Ministry of Water and Mining of Benin, is organizing the 2019 session of the Regional Steering Committee of NBA Projects and Programmes in Cotonou, Benin, from 3rd to 12th September 2019. The Regional Steering Committee of Projects and Programmes is an evaluation and guidance framework for projects and programmes being implemented. Thus, 6 ongoing projects will submit their 2019 Achievement Reports and their 2020 Work Plans to the Steering Committee for review.
During this meeting, the Programme for Integrated Development and Adaptation to Climate Change in the Niger Basin (PIDACC/NB) will organize two workshops on Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) and the Regional Climate Change Adaptation Fund (RCCAF). The meeting will be attended by Coordinators of National Focal Structures (NFSs) and Experts from NBA Member Countries, executives of the Executive Secretariat, Technical and Financial Partners and Niger Basin populations through the Regional Coordinating Unit of Users of Niger Basin’s Natural Resources.


It should be recalled that NBA is made up of 9 Member Countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, CĂ´te d'Ivoire, Guinea, Mali, Niger, Nigeria and Chad. The total population of the basin is about 160 million inhabitants, 70% of whom are rural and with a 50-year life expectancy. In view of its ecological and socio-economic importance, the Niger Basin is an essential asset for the development of the sub-region.
