The Partners Cooperation Framework of the NBA was signed by 22 of its technical and financial partners at the Paris Conference in April 2004.
The NBA development partners signed the Partners Cooperation Framework of the Niger Basin Authority, which affirms the will of the signatories to strengthen the coordination of their activities and actively participate in Partners Advisory Committee of the Niger Basin Authority.
Future projects could now be considered. Many works are planned in the basin for agricultural irrigation, power, navigation, fishing ... and also to ensure the flow of the river, that is its flow throughout the year. To sustain populations of the basin, the following will have to be developed, small works against silting undertaken at the local level, up to the dams whose socio-economic and environmental impacts should be assessed across the region.
After the Paris Conference, perfect illustration of the approach of the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD), these infrastructures can now be designed in a common, complementary and integration perspective, in accordance with the interests of countries and populations upstream and downstream.
