Niger will be hosting the 2017 Session of the Regional Steering Committee of Projects and Programmes (RSC)
The Executive Secretariat of the Niger Basin Authority will be organizing the 2017 session of the Regional Steering Committee for NBA Projects and Programs from 23 to 25 October 2017 in Niamey, Niger.

The Regional Steering Committee for Projects and Programmes is a framework for the evaluation and orientation of projects and programmes in progress. As such, six ongoing projects will be submitting their 2017 and 2018 work plans to the Steering Committee for review.

In prelude to this meeting, the GIZ/NBA Support Project will organize a series of meetings on cooperation between the Executive Secretariat, National Focal Structures and National Coordinating Units of Users of the Niger Basin’s natural resource users.

The meeting will be attended by the Coordinators of the National Focal Structures and Experts from the NBA Member Countries, Staff of the Executive Secretariat, Technical and Financial Partners and the people of the Niger Basin through the Regional Coordinating Unit of Users of the Niger Basin’s natural resources.

NBA is made up of 9 Member Countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, CĂ´te d'Ivoire, Guinea, Mali, Niger, Nigeria and Chad. The total population of the basin is about 130 million inhabitants, 70% of them are in rural areas, with a life expectancy of 50 years. Due to its ecological and socio-economic importance, the Niger Basin is an essential asset for the development of the sub-region.
