With increasingly abundant rainfall, the month of July was characterized by a sustained and faster increase in flows in all compartments of the Niger basin causing some flooding in the lower Niger. The filling of the Selingué reservoir in Mali and the Kainji reservoir in Nigeria began following the rhythm of the rains in the last dekad of July. The data used for the various analyses below came from hydrological observation networks of the National Hydrological Services and Dam Authorities of nine (9) member countries of Niger Basin Authority. (NBA) The flow analysis situation was carried out by dividing the basin into three (4) sub-catchments also represented with reference gauging stations as follows: Upper Niger at Koulikoro (Mali), Inland Delta at Dire (Mali), Middle Niger at Niamey (Niger) and Lower Niger at Lokoja

The month of June marks the beginning of the hydrological year in the Niger basin. Thus, some rainfall was recorded in all compartments of the Basin. These precipitations recorded during the month allowed the flow to increase over the entire Basin. The releases of Selingué reservoir in Mali and Kainji reservoir in Nigeria are gradually on-going to support the downstream flows. The data used for the various analyses below came from hydrological observation networks of the National Hydrological Services and Dam Authorities of nine (9) member countries of Niger Basin Authority. May marks the end of the hydrological year in the Basin. The hydrological situation of the Niger Basin during the month was characterized by the continuation of the low water situation throughout the Basin. However, localized rainfall was recorded in some compartments of the Basin, particularly in the Upper Niger and Lower Niger. The hydrological flow situation in the Niger basin during the month of April was characterized by a continuation of low flow situation in the entire basin. However, there are some localized rainfalls recorded in some parts of the Upper and Lower Niger sub-basins. The hydrological flow situation of the Niger basin during the month of March was marked by a low flow in all the compartments of the Basin. (NBA) The flow analysis situation was carried out by dividing the basin into three (4) sub-catchments also represented with reference gauging stations as follows: Upper Niger at Koulikoro (Mali), Inland Delta at Dire (Mali) and Middle Niger in Niamey (Niger).
Note: The hydrological flow situation at the Lower Niger sub-basin was not analyzed due to lack of data from the Lokoja station.

The hydrological flow situation of the Niger basin during the month of February was marked by a low flow in all the compartments of the Basin. While the low water level continues in the Upper and Lower Niger sub-basins, there was also a decline flow in the Inner Delta and Middle Niger during the first decade of February 2023 due to decline of Guinean flood. The Selingué dams in Mali and Kainji in Nigeria have begun gradual releases to support downstream flows. The data used for the various analyses below came from hydrological observation networks of the National Hydrological Services and Dam Authorities of nine (9) member countries of Niger Basin Authority. (NBA) The flow analysis situation was carried out by dividing the basin into three (4) sub-catchments also represented with reference gauging stations as follows: Upper Niger at Koulikoro (Mali), Inland Delta at Dire (Mali) and Middle Niger in Niamey (Niger) and Lower Niger (Lokoja) Nigeria

In January 2023, while a low flow situation is observed at the upper and Lower Niger basin, at the hydrometric station of Diré in the Inner Delta, an average flow situation is recorded due to the passage of the Guinean flood. However, at the Middle Niger, the Guinean flood, which started in this part of the basin, continued to reach its maximum on January 31st at the Niamey hydrometric station. The Selingué dams in Mali and Kainji in Nigeria have begun gradual releases to support downstream flows. The data used for the various analyses below came from hydrological observation networks of the National Hydrological Services and Dam Authorities of nine (9) member countries of Niger Basin Authority. (NBA) The flow analysis situation was carried out by dividing the basin into three (3) sub-catchments also represented with reference gauging stations as follows: Upper Niger at Koulikoro (Mali), Inland Delta at Dire (Mali) and Middle Niger in Niamey (Niger)
