The 41st Ordinary Session of the Council of Ministers of the Niger Basin Authority (NBA) was held at Radisson Blu Hotel of N'Djamena, Republic of Chad, on 8th December, 2022, under the chairmanship of Dr  Augustin KABORE, Minister of Environment, Water and Sanitation of Burkina Faso, Chairman in-office of the NBA Council of Ministers.

The Extraordinary Session of the Council of Ministers of the Niger Basin Authority (NBA) was held at Radisson Blu Hotel of N'Djamena, Republic of Chad, on 7th December, 2022, under the chairmanship of Dr Augustin KABORE, Minister of Environment, Water and Sanitation of Burkina Faso, Chairman in-office of the NBA Council of Ministers.

In attendance were:
Ministers and Heads of Delegation:
- Mr. ALIO ABDOULAYE IBRAHIM, Minister of Water and Sanitation, Republic of Chad;
- Mr. AHOUNOU Malan Narcisse, Ambassador of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire to the Republic of Cameroon, representing the Minister of Water and Forestry, Republic of Côte d’Ivoire;
- Mr. Ahmed Sékou KEITA, Secretary General, Ministry of Energy, Hydraulics and Hydrocarbons, representing the Minister, Republic of Guinea;
- Mr. Philippe Armand ADJOMAYI, Technical Adviser, Water Resources, Ministry of Water and Mining, representing the Minister, Republic of Benin;
- Mr. Tankari CHAIBOU, Technical Adviser, Ministry of Hydraulics and Sanitation, representing the Minister, Republic of Niger;
- Mr. DEBOK NGHEMNING Guy, Director, Regional Development and Management of Transboundary Areas at the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Regional Development, representing the Minister, Republic of Cameroon, and;
- Mr. OCHIGBO Adoyi John, Director, River Basin Operations and Inspectorate, Federal Minister of Water Resources, representing the Minister, Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Meetings of the Council of Ministers of the Niger Basin Authority: Extraordinary Session and 41st Ordinary Session PDF Print E-mail

The Niger Basin Authority (NBA) is holding its Extraordinary Session of the Council of Ministers and 41st Ordinary Session of the Council of Ministers on December 7 and 8, 2022, respectively, at the Radisson Blu Hotel in N’Djamena, Republic of Chad, under the chairmanship of Dr. Augustin KABORE, Minister of the Environment, Water and Sanitation of Burkina Faso, Chairman of the NBA Council of Ministers.
The opening ceremony was presided over by the Prime Minister of the Transition, Republic of Chad, represented by the Minister of Water and Sanitation, Mr. ALIO ABDOULAYE IBRAHIM. Three speeches were delivered by:
-    Mrs. Janine Rohwer, representing the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Chad,
-   Mr. ABDERAHIM Bireme Hamid, Executive Secretary of the Niger Basin Authority, and,
-    Dr. Augustin KABORE, Minister of the Environment, Water and Sanitation, Chairman of the NBA Council of Ministers.
All the speakers pointed out the significance of the Niger Basin’s resources despite the current climate change and insecurity situation. The various projects and programmes implemented contribute to improving the lives of more than 160 million people.   
Following this opening ceremony, the Ministers’ deliberations began and they will review and take resolutions to endow the NBA with the necessary tools for its institutional capacity building with regard to the Extraordinary Session, and provide it with financial resources for the implementation of its 2023 Work Plan.  
As a reminder, these Council of Ministers sessions are subsequent to the working session of Experts which was held from October 6 to 14, 2022.
The following were in attendance at the Councils of Ministers:
-    The NBA Supervising Ministers or their Representatives;
-    Experts accompanying the Ministers;  
-    The Regional Coordinating Unit of Users of the Niger Basin’s Natural Resources;
-    The National Coordinating Unit of Users of the Niger Basin’s Natural Resources;
-    Technical and Financial Partners;
-    Executives of the NBA Executive Secretariat designated for the Council.
We would like to thank the highest authorities of Chad for accepting to host these meetings.
